Sell or Donate

Have vintage pieces to sell or donate?

We're a small, carefully curated vintage shop — here's what's genuinely useful to know before you send us your pieces, so there aren't any surprises for either of us.

What we're looking for

We keep our racks pretty tightly curated: mostly clothing from the 1980s through the early 2000s, in natural fibers like cotton, wool, silk, linen, and leather, with a look and feel similar to what's currently in the shop and on hermineshop.com. If you're not sure whether something fits, send it anyway — we'd rather see it and say no than miss something great.

On condition

Pieces don't need to be pristine. A little wear, a small stain, a missing button — none of that automatically rules something out, especially on a piece that's otherwise special. What we do need is honesty: tell us about flaws upfront and photograph them clearly.

On pricing

We're a small resale business, not a collector or an appraiser — what we can offer reflects what a piece will realistically resell for, minus our own costs and the risk of buying inventory. That usually means well below retail or sentimental value, and we try to be upfront about that from the start.

Prefer to donate?

Honestly, a lot of people reach out just wanting their clothes to go somewhere they'll be appreciated — and that's one of our favorite things to receive. If it fits our racks, it goes straight into the shop. If it's not quite right for us, we'll make sure it finds a good home anyway, often through a local donation partner. Either way, you're helping keep good clothing in circulation and supporting a small business trying to do right by its downtown community.

What happens after you submit

  1. You'll get an automatic confirmation email right away — hang onto it.
  2. We read every submission ourselves, so please allow up to two weeks.
  3. If it's a fit, we'll follow up with either an offer or next steps for a closer look.
  4. Given how many submissions we get, we're only able to personally reply to the ones we'd like to move forward with. If two weeks pass and you haven't heard from us on a sell submission, that's your answer — and it's a reflection of what we happen to need right now, not the quality of what you sent. Donations are different: we'll always get back to you.

Before you submit: a few photo tips

  • One or two shots of the whole piece, front and back
  • A close-up of the brand or care tag
  • Close-ups of any flaws — stains, tears, moth holes, missing buttons
  • Got a whole closet or collection? One overview shot of everything, plus 5–10 of your best individual pieces is plenty — we'll ask for more if we need it

A handful of clear photos works better for us than dozens of huge ones, so no need to send your full camera roll — we compress what you upload automatically, too.
